About

A lawyer for a decade and now just a law nerd who loves reading judgments, I know the legal world can be a mystifying place with its own language, unless you have lived in it.  Before I fell in love with the law I remember sitting around the dining room table and hearing the word “Mabo” (an Australian judgment over twenty years ago) on the news and wondering what hell it meant.  If you have been there too this is the blog for you!

Every week there are judgments that are handed down that effect the life and liberty of individuals the world over yet all we hear about on the news is a tagline view of the law. I think that is unacceptable.

This blog will remove the complications, focus on the real world implications and seek to simplify the words and the worlds of judges.  No judgment or tribunal is too small. No dissent is too ridiculous.

The law actually is fun and it is my goal to show you whether you are looking for that water cooler conversation starter or have a deep interest in what happens in the worlds court rooms.
